What Should Every Resident Of Montgomery Village MD Know About Rats?
According to Chapter 39 of the Montgomery County Code, "It shall be unlawful for anyone to allow their property to be infested with rats or to be in such condition as to contribute to an existing or potential rat infestation." Rat control is important, because rats are known carriers of disease; when they are in close proximity to humans, they are a public health concern. They can damage structures and personal items, potentially causing electrical fires by chewing on wires, and are known to contaminate food supplies. The Health Department of Montgomery County MD lists 4 common signs of rats in Montgomery Village MD:
- Burrows - Rats create holes in the ground, generally between 2 and 4 inches in diameter.
- Droppings - Rats have fecal droppings that are rounded to tapered in shape on each end. These droppings are between 3/8 and 3/4 inches long, and 1/4 inch across.
- Runways - Rats often frequent the same travel areas, creating worn paths in vegetation, close to walls, fences, and walkways as they travel from their nest to the food source(s).
- Tracks - Rats will sometimes leave footprints in mud, dust, fresh dirt, or snow. Rat footprints are approximately 1/2 inch across, with 5 toes visible in their prints.
Rats only need a half inch opening to gain entry into a home or another structure. For professional rodent control services, give us a call today!
Guide To Preventing Rodents In Montgomery Village
Nobody likes it when rodents decide to take up residence in their home. They create messes and noise, and they carry diseases thus posing a risk to people and their pets. To make sure rodents don’t overrun your home, use these rodent prevention tips:
- Eliminate resting spots by removing debris.
- Seal vents and utility entry points.
- Clean up food debris from outdoor areas.
- Trim branches and grass around the exterior of your home.
- Seal trash cans and compost bins inside and outside of your home.
- Clean up fallen fruits and other organic matter.
- Inspect the exterior of your home for potential entry points such as cracks in the foundation, openings around pipes, or crevices underneath porches.
Rodents are tough to handle on your own. They hide in secluded places, only come out at night, and they reproduce quickly. We will completely eliminate rodents on your property. If they aren't gone during our initial treatment, we will come back free of charge to treat your property again. Call Miche Pest Control if you’re struggling with a rodent problem, and we'll work with you to find a rodent control solution that works.

Protect Your Property In Montgomery Village MD From Termite Damage
Did you know that a small termite colony is capable of eating an entire 2x4 piece of lumber within a matter of six months? Or that there could be multiple termite colonies nesting on your Montgomery Village property without your knowledge? To avoid finding termites on your Montgomery Village residential property, we recommend implementing preventative measures to make your property less attractive to them. Some termite prevention tips include reducing wood-to-soil contact, removing lumber, stumps, and logs from around your home, cutting thick foliage and plants away from your foundation, and replacing water-damaged wood with dry, sound wood. You can also prevent termite damage by sealing any gaps and cracks found in your exterior walls, repairing leaking pipes, drains, faucets, and fixtures, and ensuring that your gutters are draining properly.
There are many things you can do to make your Montgomery Village property less attractive to termites, but removing an existing termite infestation is a little trickier. Montgomery Village MD
Montgomery Village is a census-designated place (CDP) in Montgomery County, Maryland, and a northern suburb of Washington DC. It is a large, planned suburban community, developed in the late 1960s and 1970s just outside Gaithersburg's city limits. It is a part of the Washington metropolitan area. Although Montgomery Village is an unincorporated area, its boundaries are defined according to Montgomery County zoning rules and by its own unique ZIP code. Montgomery Village can use Gaithersburg addresses even though the village is outside city limits. Montgomery Village is recognized by the U.S. Census Bureau as a census-designated place, and by the US Geological Survey as a populated place.
Montgomery Village was created in 1962 by Kettler Brothers, Inc. The vision for a planned community in Gaithersburg is credited to architect Charles Kettler, who incorporated Kettler Brothers with his brothers Milton and Clarence in 1952. The first land purchase was the Walker Farm in 1962. On February 28, 1966, the Kettler brothers broke ground for the first house in Montgomery Village. The first model homes were opened in Lakeside of Whetstone in August 1967. In September, more opened in the Clusters of Stedwick. The Montgomery Village Golf Club also opened in September of that year. The first residents of Montgomery Village moved in on September 25, 1967, in Goshenside.
